When I first read about the plans for the Island Gardens project and the Shangri-La Residences on Watson Island I had mixed feelings. I have many fond memories of shopping at the fresh fish market, riding my motorcycle and taking helicopter rides from Watson Island. Now this amazing project with the first west coast Super-Yacht Marina will add a new level of luxury to Miami. A number of my clients have stayed at Shangri-La Hotels all of which have said there is nothing in Miami today that can compare. Trusting in them, I believe this will be one of the top 5 condominiums in Miami-Dade.

Island Gardens Real Estate:

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Asia Pacific's leading luxury hotel group, will operate the 153-room Shangri-La Hotel, Miami, to be developed by Flagstone Property Group, and will open winter 2011/20012 at the spectacular Island Gardens on Biscayne Bay.

The hotel tower, curved like a stylized lighthouse, was designed by concept architects Eric Kuhne & Associates, London and architects Spillis Candela DMJM, Miami; while the interiors will be designed by Piero Lissoni, Italy's leading interior designer.

Shangri-la will also be building The Super-Yacht Harbor at Island Gardens, the only facility in the USA that is exclusively designed for mega-yachts. The super-yacht harbor, will provide a spectacular backdrop to Island Gardens, and benefits from the deep waters of the cruise ship terminal, which are deep enough for large cruise ships and not subject to tidal restrictions for access.

The hotel's 147 rooms, suites and poolside villas will boast floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows with dramatic, unobstructed views of Miami's skyline, the super-yacht harbor and Biscayne Bay.

Shangri-La will also manage 105 Living Shangri-La fractional residences located on the top floors of the tower. The fractional residences will offer spacious two- to four-bedroom accommodation and amenities for owners and will periodically be available to hotel guests.

CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La, will feature Chinese and Himalayan healing therapies inspired by the origins of the Shangri-La legend. The hotel's 20,000sq/ft CHI spa will offer expansive indoor and outdoor treatment rooms. In addition, the 3,000sq/ft fitness facility will be open 24 hours a day and will offer the latest fitness equipment as well as a peaceful yoga and Pilates studio.
